Traveling soon and not sure what the carry-on size restrictions are for your upcoming trip? Flying multiple airlines with different rules on your next vacation? Trying to avoid the dreaded carry-on baggage sizer? Whatever the case may be, we wanted to put together a quick reference guide to make sure you know what to expect before you head to the airport.
A prepared traveler is an efficient traveler. Use the guide below to make sure you never get chewed out about your carry-on bag or personal item by even the most eagle-eyed gate agent.
The team has compiled the handy table with the latest & greatest information from every major North American airline to take the guesswork out of the complicated airline carry-on baggage policies. We took the dimensions directly from each airline’s baggage policy website page so you may notice that certain airlines decided to be a bit more exact with their conversions than others (looking at you, JetBlue).

For photo gear I am a great fan of NANUK cases. But the best for carry-on would be Nanuk 935. But it is just beyond the measurements of AIR CANADA and WESTJET – the external dimensions are: L22.0″ x W14.0″ x H9.0″. That is disappointing. As far as I can tell, the largest to fit within Canadian carry-on requirements is the NANUK 925, at 18.7 x 14.8 x 6.4 in., and does not have wheels and handles like the Nanuk 935.
